The\u00a0 Sarria route \u2013 Santiago de Compostela<\/a><\/p>\n

It is the shortest and busiest route of the French Way. In it converge travelers who are going to start the pilgrimage and pilgrims coming from other Jacobean routes or other starting points of it.<\/p>\n

The truth is that there is no direct way to get to Sarria, unless you have planned to get there in your own car.<\/p>\n

Drive to Sarria<\/h2>\n

It is an ideal option for those who are going to make the trip only in groups of 2 people. If you choose to rent a car, there are no agencies near Sarria to leave the car. But keep in mind that Santiago and Lugo are the closest cities.<\/p>\n

This may be the least favorable option, however, it can add points if you decide to make the road trip as part of the adventure prior to the Camino.<\/p>\n

Can I get to Sarria by plane?<\/h2>\n

If you are traveling from outside Spain, the main airports are Madrid or Barcelona. You must take a direct flight to Santiago de Compostela and from there look for the bus company that makes the link to Sarria.<\/p>\n

Are there companies that can take you by bus from Madrid or Barcelona?<\/h2>\n

In case you decide to go by bus, you must make a stop in Santiago or Lugo, and then take another bus to take you to Sarria.<\/p>\n

What is the bus company that takes you to Sarria?<\/h3>\n

The transport company that takes people from Santiago de Compostela or Lugo to this starting point of the French way is called\u00a0ALSA<\/a>. On their website you can see the ticket price and departure times.<\/p>\n

Train as the best option<\/h2>\n

If you decide to travel by train, you can use the services offered by RENFE from Madrid leaving at the Chamart\u00edn station. You can buy your ticket at the box office or from the company’s website and the travel time is the same as going on one of the aforementioned routes.<\/p>\n

The same happens in the case of leaving from the city of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthey have a wide variety of departures and the time is greatly reduced.<\/p>\n

Both trains, no matter the departure, will leave you a few meters from the town of Sarria, ready to regain energy and prepare to start the pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago.<\/p>\n
