A well-known resting place for Navarrese kings and a source of unique stories.<\/p>\nAl visitar este icono del trayecto aragon\u00e9s del Camino seguro escuchar\u00e1s la leyenda de San Virila, un querido abad del recinto que no pudo recibir mejor respuesta de parte de Dios ante sus dudas y preocupaciones sobre la eternidad.<\/p>\n
\u00bfQui\u00e9n era San Virila?<\/h2>\n
La figura de este personaje se encuentra reflejada en la obra de Juan de la Pe\u00f1a en su Libro G\u00f3tico. Fue un monje nacido en el a\u00f1o 850 en las \u00e1reas del monasterio, se\u00f1alando la fecha de muerte en 950.<\/p>\n
El inter\u00e9s real detr\u00e1s de San Virila<\/h3>\n
Todav\u00eda no se ha podido explicar de todo el hecho, el mismo abad lo acredita como obra divina, ante la inquietud que estaba apoderado por \u00e9l en el momento. En breve resumen, despu\u00e9s de una caminata y una siesta, el monje despert\u00f3 sin reconocer nada a su alrededor.<\/p>\n
Comienza la leyenda<\/h2>\n
I<\/p>\n
Las dudas sobre la eternidad se hab\u00edan convertido en un dilema del cual surg\u00edan dudas constantes. Ante la inquietante necesidad de respuesta, el abad decidi\u00f3 tomar un paseo por los frondosos caminos arbolados de la Sierra de Leyre.<\/p>\n
Mientras esperaba la respuesta de parte de Dios a la espera de una luz que iluminara sus dudas, quedo absorto ante el canto de un ruise\u00f1or. Sigui\u00f3 el canto hasta llegar a una fuente, donde finalmente y sin darse cuenta, qued\u00f3 dormido a sus pies al cantar del ave.<\/p>\n
II<\/h3>\n
Al despertar, San Virila not\u00f3 algo diferente, pero lo relacion\u00f3 con la idea de haber dormido durante horas. Le result\u00f3 dif\u00edcil encontrar el camino de regreso al monasterio, llev\u00e1ndole tiempo encontrar el Camino para regresar a su hogar.<\/p>\n
Cuando lleg\u00f3 al monasterio, lo vio mucho m\u00e1s grande de lo que recordaba, y los monjes que estaban no le eran conocidos. Pidi\u00f3 ver al Prior quien, tras revisar documentos, consigui\u00f3 una referencia del abad.<\/p>\n
Se dec\u00eda que el abad en efecto hab\u00eda no solo pertenecido al monasterio, sino que aparte fue su m\u00e1xima autoridad. Lo curioso, depende de la versi\u00f3n, y es que el muy querido abad fue devorado por fieras durante un paseo por el bosque, la otra solo lo toma por perdido en las inmediaciones del pie de la sierra.<\/p>\n
III<\/h3>\n
San Virila ante la noticia, qued\u00f3 asombrado por la respuesta que le hab\u00eda sido ofrecida por Dios. El mismo entendi\u00f3 que hab\u00eda estado escuchando el canto del ruise\u00f1or durante mucho tiempo, 300 a\u00f1os aproximadamente.<\/p>\n
Cuando visites el Monasterio de Leyre descubrir\u00e1s mucho m\u00e1s sobre la vida y milagros sobre este personaje legendario que guarda el Camino de Santiago para el inter\u00e9s de los peregrinos.<\/p>\n
