What are cookies?

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when you access certain web pages. Cookies allow a web page, among other things, to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their equipment and, depending on the information they contain and the way they use their equipment, they can be used to recognize to user. They can also include, for example, the IP address that the computer uses to connect to the website, the URL of the requested website, the time of the connection and other parameters related to the operating system of the computing environment used. Types of cookies

Depending on who is the entity that manages the domain from which cookies are sent and treats the data obtained, two types can be distinguished: own cookies and third-party cookies. There is also a second classification according to the period of time they remain stored in the client’s browser, which may be session cookies or persistent cookies. Finally, there is another classification with five types of cookies according to the purpose for which the data obtained is processed: technical cookies, personalization cookies, analysis cookies, advertising cookies and behavioral advertising cookies.
